We must invest in the financial stability of workers.
Currently, our minimum wage is slightly higher than the national average. While I applaud the state leaders for keeping this minimum wage above average, it still is not enough to keep up with the growing cost of living today. As Treasurer, I will work with the General Assembly to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. This is a significant increase from the current minimum wage of $7.65, but still is reasonable enough for small businesses to maintain. Our current minimum wage does not give workers the resources they need to achieve their goals; I will work to raise the wage if elected.
